What is Juvéderm®?

Juvéderm Ultra Plus is a non-allergenic, hyaluronic acid filler which is made from a naturally-occurring compound normal to your body. Your body’s hyaluronic acid level also reduces as you age, allowing skin to sag and wrinkle. Juvederm injections replenish these levels restoring facial volume and allowing you to reestablish your facial beauty. Results are immediate and last up to twelve months.
As part of the Juvederm family of fillers which also include JUVÉDERM® Ultra, JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC, JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC, and JUVÉDERM Voluma XC®. JUVÉDERM Voluma XC®, is used to resolve moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles, like smile lines (parenthetical), vertical lip lines above the mouth, and marionette lines.

Juvéderm® Comparisons
Juvéderm® Ultra Plus is designed with more crossed-linked molecules which makes its effectiveness greater when treating deep folds and wrinkles. Areas like the cheeks, around the mouth and nose areas are common target areas for Ultra Plus while thin areas with smaller lines like the lips are better areas for Ultra.
Any Juvéderm® product which ends with an XC includes lidocaine in its formulation. This anesthetic ingredient acts as a numbing agent during injections to provide less discomfort and a more pleasing treatment experience.

What is the process like?
You will start your treatment with a consultation. It will determine if Juvéderm® Ultra Plus is the right filler for your aesthetic concerns or if another filler will be the best option.
Next, the injection site is prepared, and Juvéderm® Ultra Plus is injected into the target areas. The injections are not overly painful, less so when using the Ultra Plus XC. The process is complete within thirty minutes and your results are immediate.
What is the recovery and downtime?
There may be some mild discomfort, redness, and swelling at the injection sites, and maybe some bruising. Cold compresses will minimize these effects quickly. There is no downtime and many of our patients schedule lunch-time treatments and return to work right after the injections.
How long does it last?
The original Juvéderm® Ultra products typically last between 6-8 months, while Juvéderm® Ultra Plus XC can last up to a year! Juvéderm® Voluma may last 18 months or even longer.
Do the injections hurt?
All Juvéderm® XC products are available with lidocaine (a local anesthetic) pre-mixed to improve patient comfort.
Can these fillers be used on patients with darker skin tones?
Juvéderm® Ultra Plus has proven its safety and effectiveness in all skin types. Studies with Juvéderm® showed no increased risk of hyperpigmentation or hypertrophic scarring.
What are the benefits of Juvéderm® Ultra Plus?
Results may vary from patient to but the results shown are immediate with gradual improvement as collagen levels increase. The skin surface will appear smoother, fuller, and have more volume than before treatment.
What is the recommended number of sessions necessary?
One injection can last up to a year. Once your benchmark is set after the first treatment, another injection can continue the benefits. Most patients range from one to two treatments sessions annually.
Who should administer the injections?
